Brisbane German Language School

Brisbane German Language School (BGLS) is a not-for-profit organisation which was founded in 1963. We pride ourselves on providing fun, engaging and affordable lessons by excellent qualified teachers who are native German speakers. BGLS has a diverse community of locals and expatriates from all over the world.
Lessons are offered at all levels of competency to children, youths and adults for both native and non-native learners of German. Currently, BGLS is the only provider of German classes for children and youth on Saturdays around Brisbane and online in the whole of Queensland. Youth and adult classes are also held on weekdays afternoons and evenings, at different locations in Brisbane or online.
BGLS is collaborating with the Goethe Institute to provide German exams in Queensland for adults and young learners at levels A1-C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Goethe certificates are valued worldwide as internationally recognised proof of language knowledge for visa procedures, professional recognition or registration at a university.
What makes BGLS stand out is its dedication to fostering a sense of community through cultural activities such as Fasching (Carnival), Osterfest (Easter breakfast), Laternenfest and Weihnachtsfeier (Christmas party) to provide an immersive experience. This enables students to experience cultures and traditions of German-speaking countries and encourages a sense of identity.
BGLS is managed by a management committee of volunteers who are typically parents of youth students and adult students supported by our school coordinators. If you would like to find out about joining our highly qualified team, please check out our website below.
